Warm Fuzzy Paper Chains

Because children👶👧🧒👦 have so much to learn, they often get things wrong❌. It’s important to keep reminding them of all the things they get right✅!
Warm fuzzy paper chains give your child a running record of the good things they have done.
Cut several sheets of coloured paper into strips, ready to make links in the paper chain. When you notice your child doing something positive➕ – write it on a link and add it to the chain. Make the statements personal to your child, i.e.
‘I am a kind sister’
‘I am a great tidier’
‘I am a sharing friend’
‘I am a helpful son’
It doesn’t matter if some links are repetitive. Acknowledging and praising good behaviour encourages your child to carry on behaving that way.
Encourage other family members (Mum, Dad, Grandma, older siblings etc) to notice when new links have been added and praise the child.
When your child learns to read, they can reaffirm their good qualities to themselves by revisiting each link in their chain.
