At Gumdrops, our philosophy is to provide an early learning centre that creates a warm, family environment. When you enter our centre, you and your tamariki will be embraced as part of our extended whanau and be wrapped in a sense of manaakitanga and whanaungatanga. Children thrive when they have a strong sense of belonging!
Child-led learning environment
We embrace your tamariki’s natural sense of fun, helping them to learn through play in an inclusive, diverse, and warm learning environment. There are no set meal or nap times, we go with the natural rhythms of each child.
Children are naturally drawn to messy play, so we provide lots of opportunities for them to explore and learn through sensory experiences.
We are a mixed-age childcare centre, allowing siblings and cousins to stay together. This helps tamariki settle, enhances the sense of a family environment and gives every child a chance to mix with a range of age levels.
Although all teachers interact with all children, your tamariki will be assigned a key teacher who is your main point of contact if you have any questions or concerns.
Each child has their own profile book where our teachers post learning stories which record their time with us. You can view these learning stories at any time in your child’s online portfolio through your Educa account and you can share these with family members overseas. We also keep a hard copy here in our centre – tamariki love looking through their learning stories – and they will be given this copy when they leave us.
