Children love being told that theyโre โgoodโ. They need to hear from their parents when theyโre doing the right thing. But telling your child โYouโve been very goodโ doesnโt tell them what they did that was so great. When you praise your child โ try to label the actions that youโre pleased with, i.e.
โI love the way you cuddled your brother when he fell off the swing. Youโre a caring big sister.โ
โYouโve done a great job of setting the table. Youโre very helpful.โ
โItโs nice that you let your friend play with your favourite doll. Youโre good at sharing.โ
